THIRD BOOK OF VIETNAM TRILOGY PUBLISHED BY LAS CRUCES VETERAN<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LAS CRUCES, NM\u2014 Las Cruces resident, writer, and Army veteran Dr. Bob Worthington has published the third book of a planned military trilogy titled \u201cThe Making of an Army Psychologist.\u201d The book was released by McFarland Publishers on March 22, 2023, and is available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and many other bookstores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis book is about my last decade in the Army,\u201d said Worthington. \u201cI needed money to complete graduate school and had already served one tour as a combat advisor so I returned to Vietnam as a combat advisor.\u201d Worthington describes in this book being a graduate student earning both his master\u2019s degree and doctorate in psychology. He depicts his clinical work with Vietnam vets, American POWs and research regarding PTSD. Also covered are his experiences as a sport psychologist with the U.S. Olympics and his work in the courtroom as a forensic psychologist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Making of an Army Psychologist\u201d is the last follow up to Worthington\u2019s previous books, \u201cUnder Fire with the ARVN Infantry\u201d and \u201cFighting Viet Cong in the Rung Sat,\u201d both of which were recognized with a national award for Excellence in Literature by the Military Writers Society of America. The author is now finishing the manuscript for his next book about his forty years as a pilot, aviation journalist and aviation psychologist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Worthington is a multiple award-winning writer with over 2,600 publications having featured his work. He is a member of the Las Cruces Writers Group and the Military Writers Society of America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a retired U.S. Army officer with 15 years in the infantry and a decade as an Army clinical psychologist, Worthington was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, seven decorations for valor, the Purple Heart, the Air Medal, and several awards for meritorious service. He later went on to become a professor at the New Mexico State University Department of Journalism and Mass Communications.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
