In a long night in anxious times,

Enjambments crouch in happenstance

If you haven’t tried writing poetry yet, give it a try. You still have a week. If you have written some things, bring them along to read. If you haven’t and don’t want to, bring a poem from one of your favorite poets and read it.

An August August Meeting Cometh
I love the ambiguity of the word “august,” in pronunciation and meaning, yet ultimately both tied back to the Roman emperor Augustus, with deeper etymology tied to “augur” and “auspiciousness.” For Las Cruces Writers it is auspicious in that elections are held and the next Augustus and his (or her) cabinet are chosen by the people. It seems this year, however, the august reign of Diego will continue!
