Good Samaritan Village in the Creative Arts Room, 3011 Buena Vida Circle. Enter through the main administrative building entrance (parking is to the east of the building) and turn left in the first hallway to reach the room.

George Pintar Speaks at Mesilla Valley Readers

George Pintar will speak to the Mesilla Valley Readers of Southern New Mexico book club from 4 to 5 PM Thursday, December 1st via Zoom. Pintar will discuss books he has written and will present insights into the research and writing methods of his newest publications, Navajo Tainted Beliefs and Navajo Revenge.

“With his feline companion, Sir Gallagher, George conjures up tales of years gone by that will tickle the readers fancy forever. A teller of tales, Pintar dreams up humorous short, spirited stories.” George is best known for his fictional character, Chile Charlie, the feature protagonist of “The Adventures of Chile Charlie.”…

Breakout session

Mark Davis critique of writer’s work

A member will read a short (3 to 5 minutes max) segment of his/her writing and then the members will comment on how they perceive the writing. Mark will be the session leader and explain how this will work. We invite members to bring 2 to 3 pages of their work to read and have critiqued.

Several members have asked for this to be done. For this to work we need some members to bring to this session some of their written work.

Breakout session   LCW brainstorming

In July the current LCW administration will end.  On 1 August a new management team will take over.  This brainstorming session will attempt to elicit from the members what you want from LCW and what you want it to do for you.

Currently we have the executive board meet, once a month, a week before the membership meeting.  The membership meets once a month to hold a business meeting and to hold two breakout sessions (writing and marketing) and once a month we have a two-hour writing seminar.  We also host two book signings at the Mall.  Some of our writers have agreed to read any member’s work and provide feedback.  So we have a system for writers helping writers.

The brainstorming will try to assess what the members like and what they do not like.  Basically the board members want to …

Those pesky little details that can ruin a book. First a writing exercise then an open discussion by Bob and Efrem on how to avoid incorrect details in your book. Details that can turn a reader off because he or she knows they are wrong. As the writer you must come across as an expert.
